8 Class Series Beginning on January 7
Class meets on Thursdays from 9 – 11am EST
This course will cover a number of different types of immune system disorders. Each class will focus on 1 or 2 case studies as the backbone to understanding a particular aspect of immunity. Both Chinese and Bio medical immune physiology will be addressed in each case. We’ll go through important aspects of intake, evaluation, working diagnosis, and treatment planning. Treatment with Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture as well as nutraceuticals as appropriate will be discussed in detail. We will also look at the standard of care in Western medicine and, in certain cases, how to make decisions about when and how to work with the patient’s WM care.
Class Topics
1 & 2) Respiratory & Gut – Immune system at the entrances.
3 & 4) Liver/ GB and bile- Their relation to immunity and heat-clearing.
5 & 6)Spleen/pancreas, appetite – Metabolism and immune disorders.
7 & 8) Adrenal effect on immunity and autoimmunity.
Class Dates

Each two hour class will include case presentation, diagnosis, treatment strategies and treatment. There will be a discussion of physiology and pathology of the affected system. If the patient has been advised to use some other type of treatment, we will discuss the way in which this impacts treatment, and how this might be handled in a specific instance, including risk assessment. To some extent, we will follow the treatment / result / revised treatment / result through a some length of time, depending how important this is to the specific case.
Each class will allow some time for Q & A.
