Low back and scaral pain are one of the most common aliments to strike practitioners and clients alike. They are often related to both hip problems and pelvic floor dysfunction. These problems are so common, many people just accept them.
An often overlooked but vital key to resolving these problems is to recognize that the brain and body operate on autopilot. This means that unless your brain actually understands it must percieve and excute your movment differently all the the exercises, medicines and props won’t permanently help your back problems. Somatic Movment therapy and education are the keys to changing your brain!
How does your brain- body connection change? By offering a new experience the nervous system can feel and sense. Really, we are uncovering what is natural to our bodies. They just get confused by accidnets, injury, habitual stress and the confines of our culture.
It is key to the well being of the entire body-mind to offer new experience in the core. Not only are the most powerful muscles located this area but fundemental organization of all of our movement organizes around our naval center. How we percieve and interact with the world is deeply indfluenced by how we move from this area.
Join me for the fun and impactful series. It will be interesting and at the same time offer practical tools for releiving low back and sacral pain.

- November 5
Balanced pelvis and core abdominal function. We will explore and support proper balance in our abdominal canister. This canister includes the pelvic floor and chest diaphragm but also the thoraco lumbar fascia. This fascia is a major hub of function in our body. It unifies abdominal muscles with the psoas, glutes, hamstrings, pelvic floor and latissimus.Let’s experience how to easily care for it! - November 12
The sacrum plays a crucial role in providing stability to the pelvis and lower back by connecting to the pelvic bones with strong ligaments to support the body’s weight during movement like walking and lifting. How you get that stability is important. It won’t happen if your ribs flare forward or if you breath eccessively into your belly. This class introduces global abdominal breathing and the roles of eccentric and concentric activity in the central diaphragm, pelvic diaphram and core abdominals - November 19
Unlocking issues in the upper back that inhibit proper core and pelvic function. As mentioned before, your lattissimus and accompanying upper back muscles can inhibit your ability to heal your lower back and sacrum.
We will releive ridgid ribs allowing for more spinal support in your lower back.
- November 25
True stability comes from having the right tone and movement execution. If you are gripping and clenching in your lower back, pelvis and sacrum you are missing out on true stability and your movment will be ridgid or painful.By now your cannister will experience a blanced range of supportive movment and we will use this session to move into troublesome hips. Tight hips and stiff hamstrings and lazy glutes can hurt your lower back and sacrum. Feeling how and when these muscles need to come online in ordinary and therapuetic activities will be the topic for our last class
